03 - The Silk Sound - Liu Fang

OK, I must admit, the surprise is mine...
See, as I went on creating this blog few days ago,
I had no idea which music would get posted first.
It seems to be some quantic order working from behind the scene...
could be what they call God's Will.
From Liu Fang I know very little...
(I guessed it's a man's name and assumed it so...oops!...
till I read about Her yesterday before to compose the post...)

Liu Fang on guzheng

Frankly, I wish to share the music...data about the artists is very much awaiting the curious cultural addicts some place else. Like here or there, suffice to say that Liu started on the musical path at 6 and is considered world No1 pipa player...
What U won't find on Wiki/MySpace yet is my impressions while listening to the Silk Sound
sitting alone under a shady tree by the side of a pristine, isolated mountain river...
lost in the western ghats along the south Indian coastline.
Well, no kidding dudes! That's where I am right now, with pen and paper. ( I'll post this on my laptop when I'll be back tomorrow or sometime.) And this album is playing in my solar powered iPod + X-mini sound system. I slept by the river last night...as often. Except this time I woke up around 2 am from a fight or flight feeling as a thunderstorm was heading towards my piece of lost jungle.
Yep! This was my first time...alone.
I had a 2 hours big time rain/lightnings last year, also by April's full moon at the same place. But I was with a dude and it came by sunset and round 10pm all was clear and the rocks were all dried up, the night was sweet in my hammock. In fact that evening I fully enjoyed playing in the warm river while the storm was raging just above our heads. I didn't feel anything was wrong
(like splashing in the water just below lightning bolts!?)
Somehow, last night wasn't so smooth.
Well, I had to pack up my mess real quick and throw my sheets and blankets under a  rock right there. Rain started within minutes so I had no time for options. I had barely enough space to turn on my side under that rock, and the floor was very sloppy, covered with small to medium sized pebbles.

2006 - Silk Sound
The only time I had a worst bedding was when I crashed on the floor of the kitchen wagon in an Indian train ...once.
Last night I was hopping for the storm to be passing rapidly, however it rained till the morning with long thunder rolling sounds.
No doubt, I did surrender... cause I finally did sleep in there! Though not much...
What's the connection with "Le Son de Soie" (french title for this album, also printed on the cover), U ask?
Hu? But...don't U get it? After this once in a lifetime night, I am now sitting in awe, by the river, under a mesmerizing blue sky where patches of puffy white clouds are cruising.
I listen to Liu Fang, dudes...and it is more than perfection for my Taoist mind.!

So, makes sense to U at last? Well, then...Grab this gem in Alac
Now, close Ur eyes if U are in the city, in some random room...just close Ur eyes really! U will see better while listening...and vice-versa.

Liu Fang
