47 - Seyahatname - Mercan Dede

Yet another superb record to take U on a mystical journey in the
Turkish Sufi realms.
Mercan Dede's 3rd release,  Seyahatname is possibly his most obscure effort.
Very moody and pregnant with the emotions of spiritual separation
from the Beloved.

44 - Hearing Solar Winds - David Hykes & The Harmonic Choir

David Hykes and the Harmonic Choir came up with a unique work of overtone singing that will leave no one indifferent. Hearing Solar Winds is a must have for all real music lovers and a perfect tool for inducing altered states. U will need to play this on a good quality stereo or Ur preferred earphones for best results.
I dug this record from the local library in my hometown over 20 years back...
and it never got a wrinkle!

HIGHLY RECOMMENDED

43 - Sounds From The Burning Spear - Burning Spear

One of the Reggae Fathers, Burning Spear is a true mystical figure. Just try to imagine a 65+ years old rasta groovin & jumpin on scene, while smoking huge sensi splifs, a big smile on his face. That's our Winston !

Sounds From The Burning Spear brings to our ears some of the very best tracks
from the legendary Studio One recordings.
All cuts are mega classics in the reggae universe of today.
Simply fantastic album!

42 - Sri Durga - Dj Cheb I Sabbah

Sri Durga, the obscure and magnificent album of Dj Cheb I Sabbah was one of the very first tapes I bought in India, about 10 years ago.
Little did I know about Cheb I Sabbah then, or about electronic music at all.
I only had a good flair @ selecting books/records I believe.
This one is REALLY great dudes!

41 - Below The Bassline - Ernest Ranglin

Ernest Ranglin is to Reggae AND Jazz what Jimmy Hendrix is to Rock&Roll...
the cherry on top!
Every guitar maniac on the planet will one day listen to Ernest in earnest.
From Calypso to Ska to Reggae to Jazz admirable,
the man says it all with inimitable smoothness
and apparent ease. Simply great!
Below The Bassline is one of those records U won't be able to dislike.
Here Jazz & Reggae merge in that perfect blend made in Ranglin.

40 - Spirit Chaser - Dead Can Dance

There was a time when DCD was pretty daring obscure stuff... and pulling an album in a circle of friends was sure to make sensation.
At that time, being depressed was noble, as U could immerse better than ever in Dead Can Dance music!
And then the very style of music this band invented became commonplace, unfortunately to my taste.
Spirit Chaser is the last record of the mighty duo...before they go solo careers.
It's no more depressive and even quite capable of bringing
a positive vibe all together.
A wonderful album which inspired a whole generation of artists....
and one I keep on rotating so often, year after year.
If U still don't know this, get ready for a blast.

39 - Sufi Dreams - Mercan Dede

Another Turkish delight for U today.
Mercan Dede brings that mystical vibe that makes Ur soul wants to dance...free.
Sufi Dreams is the first studio recording of Dede... and a very accomplished one.
Each track will take U deeper into a moody journey through one awesome Dreamland.
I simply love each and every album he's produced so far...more to come soon.

38 - Dadawa Peace & Love + Nyahbinghi - Ras Michael & The Sons Of Negus

Nyahbinghi would have remained an obscure word and exotic to everyone,
if Reggae music didn't exist.
However, since Bob Marley's cracker, Redemption Song, the warm heart-beat rythm of Nyahbinghi became an instant favorite to anyone who heard it.
(Death Metal fans non-included...).
Little did We know, then, that this tempo is the base for the chants performed
during Rastafarian ceremonies in Jamaican gatherings.
Ras Michael & Sons Of Negus is the most distributed band in this arena,
followed by twin formation Mystic Revelation Of Rastafari.
I think I couldn't play much of anything else for month and month
when I discovered this bands somewhere back in 1998.

Picked from Amazon:
"This review is from: Dadawah Peace & Love / Nyahbinghi (Audio CD)
Dadawah Peace & Love
The Sgt. Pepper of Reggae
Sparse, hypnotic extended jams of Nyabinghi chants.
Ras Micheal's vocal work is inspired and Willie Lindo's guitar work is an
improvisational tour-de-force
Deeply spiritual-simply one the greatest albums of all time.
"

This stuff is AMAZING and pretty rare in lossless, so let's
give Thanks & Praises onto Him.

Richard Bona is yet another of those guys who was playing in African churches at the age of 4 and became an international troubadour and blahblah...
The kinda bass player who will sing along with Bobby Be Happy McFerrin
on stage during his spare time...
On Toto Bona Lokua, as U will have guessed,

In straight line with Nujabes and my 'Jap Hype' of the moment,
Uyama Hiroto's debut album, A Son Of The Sun  seems to demonstrate
how Japanese culture has absorbed the rest of the world in the most
auspicious way. Absolutely brilliant record, must listen and recommend to

33 - Sleep Walker - Sleep Walker...Got it?

O Good Lo'd... last month earthquake which shook Japan, taking thousands of lives
may be out of the headline news already,
replaced by American folks rejoicing at the (most doubtful) killing of
a single political leader/religious figure they dubbed a 'terrorist'...
while the CIA is the biggest alleged terrorist organization in this world!...
Very well...let it be.
In Times Like These...!!! while the world go 'round and nuts, we will take a break.
Not to enjoy sake or koto however...but damn dope 'full-on' Japanese Jazz dudes!
Sleep Walker dawned on me 2 years past... and I didn't wake up since.
I am still sleep-walking dudes!...sleep-talking and sleep-eating too btw...hehe!
Sleep Walker is the first studio recording from the Tokyo based quartet
and an immediate cracker to me.

23 - Blackheart Man - Bunny Wailer

The time has come for some serious posting dudes.
Reggae music is more than ever at the core of our experience
with the natural mystic flowing through this little planet.
Reggae is a power that slowly carved a new picture in our reality.
in the hands of the Almighty,
carrying the message of Peace, Love & Harmony
to the four corners of the world.
With its magnificent Blackheart Man, Bunny Wailer lyrically lays
the foundations of righteousness for all reggae groovers. Perfect album.
