Masterpiece... on Song For Everyone , illustrious performers such as Trilok Gurtu, Zakir Hussain & Jan Garbarek give hands to L.Shankar's violin's wonder.
No surprise we get a re-mar-ka-ble record.

Whether this album is as good as I think it is or just touches me in some way, it's hard to know. You'll just have to get it and listen for yourself. I remember hearing it in the 1980s and couldn't find out which album it was; only now have I managed to get hold of a copy. A prototype of "world music," it's laceratingly beautiful and hypnotic. Shankar's string playing is supremely evocative, mystical whilst not being New Agey, and Jan Garbarek's lyrical sax is serene and haunting. The title track is a master work, and the whole album gets better the more you listen to it.
